Hello & Welcome...

I'm Emma, a registered psychotherapist with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society. I offer private counselling services as well as counselling to young people within a Harpur Trust school. I have experience working with other secondary schools, within the NHS and a local charity providing affordable counselling to adults in the community. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals to explore their emotions and work towards positive change.

My own experience of anxiety as a teenager sparked an interest in the human mind and led me to study psychology and gain a greater understanding of mental health. My own experience has given me an understanding of the impact that mental health struggles can have on our everyday lives and of how daunting it can be to ask for support. This continues to have an impact on the way I practice today and I continue to soak up as much knowledge as I can on all things related to the way people think and how our brains work.

As an integrative therapist, I use various theoretical approaches to provide a personalised course of therapy. I draw from the person-centred approach which considers the client an expert in their own lives and highly values the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and client. I also draw from solution-focused therapy, CBT, psychodynamic and creative techniques.

I welcome every person I meet as the unique individual they are and look forward to learning more about their personal stories. The support I offer is genuine, non-judgemental, with a warm and gentle nature, in order to create an environment whereby each person feels truly heard, safe and empowered to make the positive changes they would like to see in their lives.
